Two Mammoth Police Officers face misdemeanor disturbing the peace charges - former Officer Eric Hugelman and Officer Dan Casabian. The DA had earlier reported that an investigation revealed a verbal fight had escalated into a physical fight just outside the bar.
In addition to the two Mammoth Police Officers, the DA filed disturbing the peace charges against Kehley McKenzie and Cody Coffman of Bishop. Ms. McKenzie also faces two counts of misdemeanor battery.
District Attorney Art Maillet said that the arraignment was continued to turn over a lot of discovery material to attorneys representing the four defendants.

It should be noted this fight took place in Whitney Alley, and in the city parking lot. There was no altercation in Rusty's, or behind Rusty's. Several of the people involved were not even patrons of Rusty's.

Yes, as a matter of fact they were!! They had altercations in Rusty's first!! The police officer's girlfriend and punched 3 guys in Rusty's. One of them was named in the report. Then when they were leaving, another altercation between the individuals arose. It did take place in the alley, but it originally started in the bar where the officers proceeded to get extremely drunk and out of control. Verbally threatening others just because they have authority? NOt down here they don't. Only in Mammoth. But just because you are an officer of the law, does not make you above the law.

There was an altercation inside of Rusty's and all four were involved. There was a victim who tried to press charges against one of the officers and the DA would not listen to the victim, even though all four involved proceeded out side and started something else immediately after the first altercation.

I don't mean to be sexist, but I am a bit surprised that the lone female has been charged with battery. I just don't think it's plausible that she was the only one one who got "physical" while the others simply disturbed the peace. It's odd.

Who do you think is his lil chick?? For one, Cody did not strike the officer, his friend did!! But nobody's talking about Mark. While we are naming people, don't forget him. The one that even the officer said was involved, but for some reason no charges are pressed against him?? If Cody got KO'ed, maybe it would be because these OFFICERS are taught special moves to help them enforce the law, not break it!

So I am wondering why when I write about what really happened and who was involved, it doesnt get posted. Are you afraid of the truth?
Editor's Note:
No we do not fear the truth, but we have to check out assertions that involve specific individuals to make sure we are not misrepresenting the truth.

It is odd, but it is true!! The guys for the most part practiced a little self control, while the cops girlfriend proceeded to punch 3 guys!! Talk about a crazy one! She deserved to be charged with battery, she was punching guys for no reason!! Can we say rehab??

It is evident that since Clyde and Collie sold that bar it has become a dive and Bishop's scum all hang out there... Cops and red necks included!

Oh goodness. I doubt there are any bars which have not had violent incidents occur as a natural result of socializing combined with alcohol. Personally I think it is safer at places such as Rusty's than at the parties that occur in private residences- where incidents can escalate quickly and police response can be slow. The bartenders and bouncers at Rusty's tend to watch out for their patrons, and the local dial-a-ride is there to ensure those who are intoxicated can get home safely. If incidents start to get out of control there is always a quick police response.
Also, those who have known substance abuse problems and/or a violent criminal history tend to avoid the bars because they are on probation and don't want to risk arrest. Ironically (considering the stigma), the local bars tend to be frequented by law abiding citizens who are not on probation.

I'm sorry what planet is "Concerned" from??? Definitely not from Earth or Bishop for that matter. "the local bars tend to be frequented by law abiding citizens who are not on probation. " Looks like someone has been drinking while writing!
Rusty's is not a safe place! The past year of violent events is proof enough. I knew a guy minding his own business was beat up by 3 Hispanic males right inside the bar. There was no intervention by the bar staff or their "so called" security/ bouncers. Sure the cops got there quickly but no one stood up for the poor man who got jumped, or even tried to stop the 3 males from leaving the bar! to this day those 3 males are still out there scott free. Thanks Rusty's for providing us with a place to get drunk, beat up, and have something to write about for the weeks to follow! I think I'd rather go to Mc Murry's where the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is peaceful!

The local transit system is available till 2 am. Love that they encourage you to stay out till the bars close, and if you still have money left from drinking all night make sure you have $14 per person to get home with!

YET is right! This town is terrible about probation, people are even scared to go to the bar on probation? Only if you have an alcohol clause, but Its good to stay out of the bars anyways because of the crazy drunks who think they are bullet proof want to start fights when you just want to have a good time! I find in this town nothing good happens after 11, and that's what time I go home. Welcome to Bishop! Come on vacation, leave on probation!

That is true, but since most violence is alcohol-related many of those on probation do have an alcohol clause. And I must note that I was mainly speaking of the "regulars" as being law abiding. Sometimes (especially on weekends) the local bars are full of strangers such as tourists, and more violent incidents tend to happen. New Years Eve was one of those nights.

Ask Mr. DA if they need to be arrested for the charges. Normally an arrest warrant would be issued and the defendants taken into custody and released. Please find out for us!
