Eastern Sierra News
A New Year’s Eve celebration gone bad behind a local bar. Bishop Police responded to the back of Rusty's Saloon at 1:15 am Friday regarding a report of a fight that resulted in an injury.

Police said when they arrived, they learned that the victim, Peggy Feigner of Bishop had left Rusty's and was standing outside the Bar with a male companion when she was attacked by the suspect and injured. The suspect is Jessica Breanne Howe, a 23-year-old hair stylist of Bishop.
An ambulance transported Ms. Feigner to Northern Inyo Hospital. Due to the nature and severity of her injuries, Feigner was transferred to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, where she was listed in stable condition.
Battery suspect, Jessica Howe
Feigner's companion, Mr. Norman Hollis, 50, of Mammoth Lakes, sustained injuries and was described as the victim of a misdemeanor battery. The suspect in that incident, 21-year-old Andrew Charles Warye of Bishop was placed under a private person's arrest for misdemeanor battery and later released on a promise to appear in court.

Hey Wayne - Why are you always ripping Mammoth's bars? Seem like Rusty's is just as violent, but with a local edge. At least most of Mammoth's trouble makers are gone by Monday.

This is only one side of the story...there are always two. Maybe someone should find out why this happened? I think so.

Uh, PP, that's what the cops do - and most of us don't go around cold-cocking people even if we're upset with them.

PP- Grow up. Nothing that a person may or may not have done constitutes the need to beat them so severely that they need to be flown out to a higher level of medical care than can be provided in Bishop. Just the fact that she needed to go to the hospital is wrong. Learn to deal with your problems like a functioning adult.

"Let's Get Ready to Rumble" Another fight at Rusty's. Gee's we should call it The Bishop Fight Club for God sakes. Let's see, we have the locals, the cops, who's next? What a FINE example of Bishop's cultural center. No wonder the town is in the shape it is. "Belly Up to the Bar Boys" You're a pack of losers.

I cannot imagine any situation in which it is ok to beat up somebody like Peggy. She's not exactly physically intimidating, for one thing. I find it sickening that anybody would have the audacity to say she deserved it! It's horrifying, actually to think that these people are out in the community. I hope Peggy has a speedy recovery.

Wow - is she really fighting for her life? Could SW get an update for us?
JMG....you say that most of the men in BISHOP are intimidated by HOLLIS. WHY is that? Since when do you speak for most of the men in Bishop? What? There is now a violent, rogue gang of 50+ year olds terrorizing 20-something-year-olds in Bishop because....? Let's see - New Year's Eve and rowdy, obnoxious 50-years-olds? Hmm. Rowdy, obnoxious 23-year-olds? That's where I'm placing my bet!

I see that the only comments being posted here by Bennett Kessler and the Sierra Wave are extremely biased and one-sided. My previous comment and points of truth regarding the situation have not been acknowledged or posted and have been withheld from public view which makes me very unhappy.
Apparently Bennett and the Wave are partial and that really shows here. The problem is, it is only your job to report the news, not edit it to make the story so one-sided and make judgments. It seems that you have taken a side and have written the story so that it appears as you want it to, making JH look like such a horrible person and all around "bad guy".
Freedom of speech apparently does not exist in a one horse town with an inexperienced reporter and a part time rag of a newspaper.
Editor's Note:
I believe we deleted your comment because it appeared libelous. If you want to call me and give me your name and discuss the incident, I will talk to you. 760-873-5329.

If you're hanging out at Rusty's or the likes, your chances of getting in trouble are already tri-fold. We need some night spots for a nice dinner and cocktail, without all the trouble makers who are out getting wasted.

I agree! Some people overlook the fact there are limited options for a night out- it's just Denny's and the bars after 11:00p.m. So it's not really fair to judge those who hang out at Rusty's- it does have the town's only pool tables, after all.
