THURSDAY, 11-Mar-2010

An upper level ridge builds into California today bringing lighter winds and mostly clear skies. That ridge weakens tonight in response to a Pacific storm system making its way toward the coast. That system reaches the coast on Friday, spreading inland during the day. This will bring a chance of precipitation to Inyo and Mono Counties Friday night and for Mono County into Saturday morning. New snow of 5 - 10 inches could fall at Mammoth Mountain during that time period. That system moves east later Saturday followed by an Eastern Pacific ridge of high pressure building in Saturday night. Even though Spring does not officially begin until the 20th of this month, it will certainly fell like it from Sunday through Wednesday of next week. Temperatures will warm up quite a bit through out our forecast area and the Owens Valley could see the mid 70s by Tuesday.
