Tuesday afternoon in Bishop, emergency workers responded to two separate three car pile ups, both caused by drivers with medical conditions.

It appeared that an RV was stopped at the light, with a blue Ford expedition behind it, when a gold Land Rover slammed into the expedition, pushing it into the RV.

According to Police, due to a medical condition, the driver of the Gold Range Rover failed to stop and slammed into the Expedition.

Shortly after emergency workers arrived on scene, they began CPR on the driver of the Land Rover. Both the driver side and passenger side airbags were deployed in the range rover. CPR with the auto pulse machine was in progress when the Symons Ambulance crew arrived at the hospital.

Police report that the driver of the blue Ford Expedition, a local woman, was taken to the hospital with neck and back pain.

The driver of the Land Rover, Joseph Paul Wood, a Chalfant resident, died as a result of the medical condition.

About an hour before a medical condition led to the fatality at Line Street, another three car pile up occurred on Main Street across the street from Jack’s. The driver of a black Jeep Cherokee failed to stop due to a medical condition and rear ended another vehicle. The driver was taken to the hospital as well.
