In Mono County Court news, Deputy District Attorney Kyle Graham reports that Anika Altman has pled to felony grand theft charges. Altman faced charges of felony embezzlement and grand theft for allegedly embezzling money from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.
 Deputy DA Graham says that Mammoth Police Officer Jesse Gorham did a "very good job in finding out about this theft." Graham says that during investigations on a different matter Gorham secured a search warrant for Altman’s bank records and saw some “unusual,” credits.
In August of 2007, Mammoth Police reported the arrest of Altman after investigations into an alleged burglary and theft of cash at a Mammoth business.
There are no outstanding charges in that burglary and theft of cash, but during those investigations Officers found financial records that indicated that Altman was likely processing unauthorized refunds and diverting the money into her bank account while working for a second local business, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.
Investigations turned up evidence that at least $8,000 was taken from the Ski Area between January and March of 2007, Graham explained.
Last week, Altman pleaded to a felony grand theft charge. She still awaits sentence, which will likely involve jail time and restitution.
