Late, hot summer and road jobs. They go together, and right now they're going on north of Independence and in Mammoth Lakes, not to mention other highways in the region.highway_indy.jpg

With the aftermath of flood and mudslide devastation still visible from Highway 395 north of Independence, Caltrans and their contractor, Skanska, continue the heavy task to repair and replace drainage systems in the area. That was a last minute job demanded by the State Office of Emergency Service. They did provide the nearly $1 million to do the work.

Officials say that the project will continue through next week. Meanwhile the work and some traffic delays continue.

Caltrans work in Mammoth Lakes, too. Their contractor, Sierra Nevada Construction has started a resurfacing project on Highway 203 - from Minaret Summit to Highway 395.

Officials say this project will go on through mid-October. Parking might find restrictions during the project. Officials said they will make every effort to maintain vehicular and pedestrian access to businesses.
