As legal wrangling goes on at Cottonwood Plaza, at least one of the tenants has taken a major step to leave.western_kitchen.jpg

The Imperial Gourmet Restaurant, long located on the upper floor of the back section of the plaza has purchased the former Western Kitchen restaurant on Main St., north of the plaza.

City of Bishop officials confirmed that Imperial Gourmet has begun a major remodel of the building so they can relocate there.  The work will likely take a few months.

Other tenants are also talking re-location as the master lease holder, Chuck Caldwell, continues to press for tenants to pay nearly $500 a day to remain.

Many tenants had abandoned the center in July.  Those who stayed signed new leases, but Caldwell returned them.

Does this guy think he is in Beverly Hills? For heaven sakes this is Bishop if he wants to charge this type of rent he needs to re-consider his location and MOVE there! Maybe if no one rents his buildings he will understand this type of behavior will not be tolerated by the local folk.

Caldwell is either a greedy, out of touch guy or completely out of his mind. Either way, mmm Chinese food.

I'm so glad they are moving on. From what I'm heard they had such a hard time with the city getting permits. I almost feels like the Bishop government is not "for the people", but against the people. Hopefully the new location will serve Imperial Gourmet well.
