760 As We Know It - In Jeopardy PDF Print E-mail

Phone Companies want to do what's called an overlay of Area Code 760. That means we would have to dial 10 digits every time we want to call our Eastern Sierra neighbors. 760.jpg

Inyo Supervisor Susan Cash was headed to a hearing on the 760 issue. An administrative court had ruled against the change in 760, but now the phone companies are fighting back.

Supervisor Linda Arcularius explained that the public comment process has made comment nearly impossible and definitely unlikely. Comment requires special software, technical knowledge and money.

You can make a last minute comment in favor of keeping 760 the way it is now with no overlay by emailing your comment to the Inyo Board clerk Pat Gunsolley.

Gunsolley planned to fax the comments to Supervisor Cash. Don't delay. Send your email comment to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

If the decision to keep things the way they are is not upheld, calling will grow more cumbersome.

I suggested that they have SO CAL change their way of dialing, we are not the growing ones, they are. Let's all get on the band wagon and e-mail our concerns!
