A tragedy at Mammoth Mountain Monday,as ski patrollers responded to a call for an unconscious skier on West Bowl, near Facelift Express. Mammoth Communications Director Joani Lynch reports that the skier had no visible signs of external trauma, but that the 48 year old man was unconscious and having trouble breathing as a result of a fall.

The man was rushed to Mammoth Hospital Emergency Room where ER personnel went to work on the man. Lynch reports that the patient was then flown out to Renown Medical Center in Reno, where sadly, he passed away as a result of his injuries.

The Washoe County Coroner identified the man as 48 year old David Ebben of Encinitas, California.  Ebben was a frequent visitor to Mammoth Lakes.
